I’ve written before about the fundraising efforts of Teen Challenge in Missoula, where young women get some faith-based help turning their lives around. The nonprofit runs a thrift store and a coffee shop, and the teens are regulars in the local craft fair circuit.
All pretty non-controversial. The group’s upcoming fundraising event, on the other hand, is raising some eyebrows, judging by the comments posted with the Missoulian story breaking the news that the most famous mom in Alaskan history will be coming to the Garden City in September. That’s right, Sarah Palin will speak in Missoula to help raise money for Teen Challenge. Her topic: “Take a Stand – For God, Family and Country.”
Love her? Hate her? Numbed by a staggering load of indifference? However you feel, Missoula Mom wants to know: Are you going, and why or why not?

$arah will come if you pay her $100,000.00, PERIOD. THAT is the bottom line.
In response to Sarah Palin’s impending visit, I would like to congratulate Teen Challenge on already gaining public interest, and hopefully, support as they continue in their mission.
Regardless of how I feel about Palin’s political agenda, she has become a spokesperson for young Mom’s (experience with her own daughter), in the national spotlight. I hope the women involved with Teen Challenge will benefit from this attention in the most positive way possible. -thanks!

not controversial?
wrong.

This event will be good for both Teen Challenge, and Palin.
Palin 2012
I support her effort in raising money for a great organization. Love her or not, I think open minded people should leave her alone and let her address this group…There are plenty of speakers who visit here that I don’t like….and I don’t go listen to them.
I’ve heard that the Garden of Readin is also getting threatning calls about this….Come on Missoula…we can do better than this…..we are better than this.
To DEO above: Did some people forget Sarah is doing something to encourage and inspire our young people as well as those parents who attend. Instead of making it all about money and something negative, why don’t you do something positive and worthwhile. Our teens can use all the help they can get. As far as the money, I believe you may be referring to her speaking during the televised tea party movement. Did you not watch Sarah’s interview, among a few, on the FOX station. She was offered money but donated it! Oh, and I for one, support Palin! I am so excited she is speaking.
I wouldn’t pay $100 to see the non-speaker for anything in the world. I think that the owners of the Garden of Read’n should disclose what they are paying Ms. Palin in these times of economic uncertainty and crisis. She doesn’t stand for anything but to benefit the Monetary Stream for Sarah Palin. She has an abominable record on so many issues, including the environment, and wildlife. Her 15 minutes were long ago, over. Thanks Mr. Mccain for saddling us with “that one”
I went through teen challenge and I think she could find a much better place to support its an overly religious mentally abusive place we were forced to work all day for free not aloud any contact with the outside world brainwashed forced to live in unsanitary envirements and much much more.
And btw do your research teen challenge is for adults not teens.
